Safe and Strong – Babies and children are SUCH amazing blessings….and there’s no doubt that us Mama’s dearly love our kids. However, I would venture a guess that most of us are not 100% satisfied with our post-natal bodies. Things change after having a little one, and although some of these changes probably cannot be reversed (like stretch marks 😉 ), some of them can! One of these is regaining a strong core after pregnancy. We all want a strong core…but finding the time and energy to do it can be tricky – especially with the daily demands of a baby and possibly other children as well.
Personally, I’ve struggled with finding time to strengthen my core. After birthing and carrying six babies, I know that I could use some core strengthening. In fact, I also have known for a while, that I, like many women, have diastasis recti (separated abdominal muscles). I’ve tried doing various exercises for them before….but didn’t really see much improvement and eventually ‘life’ took over and the exercises ceased. Recently, I was introduced to Nordic Fit Mama. This is a company whose founder really gets it. Riina Laaksonen specializes in pre- and post-Natal exercises. She also is active in nutritional coaching and life coaching. With three children of her own, she understands what it is like to desire to strengthen your core and fix issues such as diastasis recti – all while still being the mom that your children need.
Nordic Fit Mama has produced Safe and Strong – a five week online course for core training after pregnancy. I have been using this course for the last three weeks and am really enjoying it so far. Everyday, you simply check the course outline and either watch a video or read instructions on your exercises for the day. Everything is simple, straightforward and easy to do right in your own home. They are designed specifically to fix diastasis recti and are also doable for those who have had a c-section.
When I first read about the Safe and Strong course, I was pumped. Finally a course that I could do easily at home…with the kids around…whenever I had time throughout the day. The exercises don’t take any more than 10-15 minutes per day and it is a fast and easy way to rehabilitate my body. Currently I am about 2/3 of the way through the course and really am enjoying it. (I never thought I would be the one to say that I’m enjoying core strengthening exercises!) The truth is that the simplicity of the course and the minimal amount of time it takes each day really has been a game-changer for me. Besides it being a fast and easy exercise routine, you will also find that you’ll have a flatter tummy, increased self-confidence and the knowledge you need to fix your diastasis recti.
What do you think? I believe that Nordic Fit Mama’s online course is a great one for any mom out there! It’s never too late to start strengthening your core and getting rid of the separation of your abdominal muscles. Safe and Strong teaches you how to test for diastasis recti, how to activate your pelvic floor muscles (and how to do it in everyday life situations without have to stop everything you’re doing in order to exercise), which exercises are safe to do after pregnancy, how to relax your neck and shoulders which can suffer from poor breastfeeding positions, and more! I’ve learned so much, and I’d love for all of you lovely Moms out there to have this knowledge as well!
The next online course begins in a few short weeks – on April 23rd! Head over here to sign up or to learn more.
